YAHŞİBEY TASARIM ÇALIŞMALARI - YAHSHIBEY DESIGN WORKSHOPS 36
01 – 15 Temmuz, July 2015
Concept
The theme explored the intersection of gastronomy and graphic design, going beyond typical ideas like recipe books or food styling. Participants delved into deeper topics such as:
• Food culture, sustainability, and "commons" (müşterekler – shared resources).
• Local Aegean ingredients, traditions, and disappearing food practices.
• Visual communication of food through typography, illustration, posters, and experimental graphics.
• Collaborative, non-competitive creation in a communal living environment (cooking, cleaning, and working together).
Guest speakers, including Vasıf Kortun (art historian and Defne Koryürek's spouse), enriched discussions on cultural and social aspects of food.
The outcomes were documented in a dedicated PDF catalog on the official Yahşibey website (yahsiworkshops.com), featuring participant projects like experimental posters, illustrated recipes, typographic explorations inspired by food forms, and conceptual designs blending visual and culinary narratives.
