Büyükada'nın o eski köşklerinden birinin geniş bahçesinde, yılların izini taşıyan ahşap bir iskemle dururdu. Etrafı saran rengarenk begonviller, ortancalar ve mimozalarla dolu bahçe, yaz sıcağında hafif esintiyle sallanan dalların gölgesinde huzur verirdi. Şövale kurulur, fırça çiçeklerin canlı renklerini tuvale aktarırken, zaman durmuş gibi hissedilirdi. Çocukluk günlerinden kalan o enstantane: denizin uzak uğultusu, kuş sesleri ve bahçenin kokusu... Şimdi özlemle anılan, kaybolmaya yüz tutmuş bir cennet parçası.

In the spacious garden of one of Büyükada's old mansions, there stood a wooden chair bearing the marks of years gone by. Surrounded by vibrant bougainvilleas, hydrangeas, and mimosas, the garden offered peace in the summer heat, under the shade of branches gently swaying in the breeze. As the easel was set up and the brush transferred the vivid colors of the flowers onto the canvas, it felt as if time had stood still. That snapshot from childhood days: the distant murmur of the sea, the sounds of birds, and the scent of the garden... Now remembered with longing, a piece of paradise on the verge of being lost.
